The Crucified Life is a book by the prolific Christian pastor and author, A.W. Tozer. Tozer was known for his passion and fervor for God. He also shunned the way that worldy influences were beginning to take a foothold in the church. In this book, he offers ways for those who are truly pursuing God to grow closer to Him, even if they may seem alone in doing so.
Tozer was a man known to stick to his principles and he very much believed that Christians should impact the world, not the other way around. This book addresses the fact that there may be times in which a believer has to do a spiritual self-check, especially if they are desiring to get closer to God. They may have to question where they are and why they are there. Tozer talks about reviving from this spiritual malaise via living a life that is for God. The crucified life, as he calls it, is anything but easy. In fact, it is quite hard because it asks for the believer to break the habits they have been keeping and at times, leave where they are physically. It calls for communing with God throughout the day, being ready and willing to be persecuted and much more.
Would I recommend? Definitely! I think that for any Christian seeking to get out of a spiritual slump, this book offers valuable tools. However, as in true Tozer fashion, some of what he says can be a bit harsh. He won't sugar coat anything! Be prepared with that and approach it with an open mind.
